PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate capable of satisfying durability and uniformity (irregularity) of display. SOLUTION: The polarizing plate is provided with a transparent protection film via an adhesive layer on both the faces of a polyvinyl alcohol-based polarizer. The polarizing plate is characterized in that a one-side transparent protection film contains a (meth)acryl-based resin having an unsaturated carboxylic acid alkyl ester unit and glutaric acid anhydride unit, the one side transparent protection film has 40 nm or more of an in-plane phase difference and/or a phase difference plate has 80 nm or more in the phase difference in a thickness direction, and the other side transparent protection film has 40 nm or less of in-plane phase difference, and the phase difference in a thickness direction less than 80 nm.
