MIXED LITHIUM SILICATES

The invention relates to mixed lithium silicates, wherein the mixed silicates have the following formula Li2MII I(1 x)MIII xSiO4(OH)x (I) in which 0= x= 1 and M is Fe, Co, Mn or Ni. They are characterised in that they are in the form of essentially spherical non-coalesced particles having a size of between 400 and 600 nm, and in that they include a structure in the space group Pna21 and optionally in the space group Pccn. The silicates are obtained by precipitation in an aqueous medium from precursors. They can be used as an active material for electrodes in electrochemical devices.
