<p>A method of manufacturing a coated cutting tool and the coated cutting tool are provided to prevent the danger of spalling, frittering, edged spalling and flaking from increasing to improve the lifetime of the cutting tool. A base material is coated through a coating process. The coating process includes a step of depositing a nonmetal functional layer or a nonmetal function layer system, a step of performing ion etching on the surface of the nonmetal functional layer or nonmetal functional layer system, and a step of depositing at least one intermetallic layer.
