<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a string musical instrument which is played both in an acoustic mode and a pick-up mode with one instrument, without sound quality difference of performance sound between both modes, and in which muting of performance sound from a music instrument body is made possible when it is played in the pick-up mode. <P>SOLUTION: The musical signal output device 1A includes: a shield member 10A which is mounted in a sound hole of the string musical instrument 2A; a music sound detecting means for detecting sound generated by string vibration and outputting a musical sound signal expressing its wave form; a detection means for detecting that the shield member 10A is mounted in the sound hole; and an electronic circuit section 11 including a signal processing means which performs signal processing for compensating difference of transmission paths between a state in which the shield member 10A is mounted and a state in which it is not mounted, on the musical sound signal, and which outputs it to a sound system.
