PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display, having a structure where a liquid crystal display element is held by a housing via a spacer, the liquid crystal display device such that in reducing the material cost of the spacer and improvement in (sticking) operation efficiency, prevention against production of dust in assembling process and infiltration of dust into an optical system, including the liquid crystal display element, and to provide a housing structure and a spacer shape that provide high holding precision of the liquid crystal display element. SOLUTION: A recessed portion 37 is provided to a corner of a bottom portion 32 of the housing 30, and a cut 38 is formed in a corner of a sidewall portion 34. Then the one spacer 20 which is sequentially sectioned into an L shape in a cord shape is stuck on the bottom portion 32 of the housing 30 from the cut 38 along the sidewall portion 34, and a curved portion 23 formed by bending the spacer 20 is stored inside the recessed portion 37.
