<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dolastatine 15 derivative that has sufficient water solubility and can economically be produced. <P>SOLUTION: A cell growth inhibitor that is a peptide represented by formula (I): A-B-D-E-F-(G)<SB>r</SB>-(K)<SB>s</SB>-L, and its salt are provided. Therein, A, B, D, E, F, G and K are each anα-amino acid residue; (s) and (r) are each independently 0 or 1; L is a monovalent radical such as an amino group, an N-substituted amino group, aβ-hydroxylamino group, a hydrazide group, an alkoxy group, a thioalkoxy group, an aminoxy group or an oximato group.
