摘要 #CMT# #/CMT# In the production of a self-adhesive tape by applying adhesive mass layer(s) onto supporting material layer(s), the adhesive layer is subjected to corona treatment after application to the supporting layer. #CMT# : #/CMT# Independent claims are included for: (1) a self-adhesive tape obtained by the process; (2) a method for applying a self-adhesive tape, consisting of adhesive mass layer(s) on supporting material layer(s), onto a surface to be bonded, where at least one adhesive mass layer is subjected to corona treatment before application to the surface, the tape preferably being applied within a week of (especially immediately after) the corona treatment; (3) the use of corona treatment for (a) improving the shear strength of an adhesive mass, specifically the adhesive mass of a pressure-sensitive adhesive tape, or (b) improving the flow of a pressure-sensitive adhesive onto a substrate to be bonded; and (4) a dispenser for delivering a self-adhesive tape (5) (preferably a tape as described above), comprising a receiver (1) for a roll of the tape and (as the novel feature) at least one corona treatment device (3). #CMT#USE : #/CMT# As adhesive tape. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# Corona discharge treatment markedly improves the adhesion properties of adhesive masses, and in particular greatly improves the adhesive shear strength. #CMT#DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS : #/CMT# The figures show schematic diagrams of two forms of pressure-sensitive adhesive tape dispensers provided with corona treatment systems without counter-electrodes, one for single-sided tape and the other for double-sided tape. 1 : Storage roll for tape 2 : Pressure roller 3 : Electrode of corona discharge plant 5 : Pressure-sensitive adhesive tape #CMT#POLYMERS : #/CMT# Preferred Process: The adhesive mass is a pressure-sensitive adhesive mass, specifically a UV-crosslinked, chemically-thermally crosslinked or electron beam-crosslinked adhesive mass or a pre-crosslinked, cohesive adhesive mass. Corona treatment is carried out at a dosage of 1-150 (preferably 25-50) W.min/m 2>. #CMT#EXAMPLE : #/CMT# A supporting film (23 mu m) was coated with ACResin 258 UV(RTM: pressure-sensitive adhesive mass). The adhesive was crosslinked in a laboratory UV dryer with a medium-pressure mercury lamp. The adhesive-coated side of the obtained tape was subjected to corona treatment at 50 W.min/m 2>in a laboratory corona plant. Standard tests on the treated tape showed that the shear state times (DIN 50014-23/50-1) at room temperature, 40[deg] C and 70[deg] C were 10000, 10000 and 2923 minutes respectively; the adhesive strength on steel was 4.5 N/m; and the gel value was 55.1%. The corresponding values for a non-corona treated control tape were 443, 239 and 25 minutes, 4.4 N/m and 54%. The corona treatment thus markedly improved the sheat strength, without adversely affecting the other adhesive properties.
