摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which provides an image signal of high definition (e.g., eight millions of pixels or more) and high gradation (e.g., 16-bit gradation), and still maintains a prescribed frame rate (e.g., 30/sec) when shooting a motion picture. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus comprises: an imaging lens 1; a diaphragm mechanism 7 for making relative strengths of a P-polarized component and an S-polarized component in light flux through the imaging lens 1 different from each other; a polarization separating element 2 on which the light flux through the imaging lens 1 is made incident before image formation; a first imaging device 4 for capturing an image formed from the P-polarized component B separated by the polarization separating element 2; a second imaging device 6 for capturing an image formed from the S-polarized component C separated by the polarization separating element 2; and a signal processing means which synthesizes an image signal outputted from the first imaging device 4 with an image signal outputted from the second imaging device 6 to output one image signal.
