PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a metallic external case for an imaging apparatus which protects an external interface connector part from infiltration of dust or for the purpose of safety and has attractive outside appearance. SOLUTION: A situation that a metallic external member and an external part forming the outside appearance of the imaging apparatus slide with respect to the body of the imaging apparatus and they are at predetermined positions is detected. The external case is provided with an opening hole through which a tripod mount for mounting a tripod is exposed in a photographing permitted state and the external interface connector is exposed from the opening hole in a communication mode with the external equipment according to the result of detection.
