摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately set a recirculation rate of EGR gas depending on a generation state of a reformed gas. SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine 10 includes a fuel reforming catalyst 28 for generating a combustible gas from a reformed fuel by using the heat of the exhaust gas. In a reform control, the combustible gas generated by the action of the fuel reforming catalyst 28 is recirculated in an intake air system as the EGR gas with the exhaust gas. When a fuel supply to the catalyst 28 is started, the ECU 50 does not immediately increase the recirculation rate of the EGR gas, but increases the recirculation rate of the EGR gas depending on its generation amount after the generation of the reformed gas is confirmed by a combustible gas sensor 58. The switching operation from a normal EGR control to a reform EGR control can be smoothly performed while sufficiently maintaining the balance of the reformed gas amount with an EGR amount thereby.
