PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily transfer an overhead buffer without restricting the length of a shelf of the buffer by mounting pitch to a ceiling. SOLUTION: This overhead buffer supports the shelf which freely receives and delivers articles between the shelf and an overhead vehicle by a supporting member extending in the vertical direction. The supporting member is constituted of a first support member for supporting a first raceway mounted on the ceiling and having an opening along a horizontal direction in a lower part, and a second support member slidably mounted in the horizontal direction in the raceway to support the shelf. By fixing the first support member to the ceiling, mounting the first raceway having the opening along the horizontal direction in the lower part on the first support member, mounting the second support member on the raceway and mounting the shelf on the second support member, the overhead buffer is installed.
