PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chair of the type of nesting in fore and aft directions while flipping up a seat plate by which there is no need to raise the front portion of the seat plate by hand and the nesting operation can be easily done when nesting. SOLUTION: The seat plate 10 is swingably attached to a seat securing lever 5 and the seat plate 10 is mounted on a seat support portion 3 when sitting. A spring 19 for pressing the seat plate 10 so as to raise the front end of the seat plate 10 upward is arranged between the seat securing lever 5 and the seat plate 10. The chair can be nested without raising the front end of the seat plate 10 by hand by only moving the chair in the fore and aft directions because the front end of the seat plate 10 is a little bit raised upward when nesting.
