<p>The invention refers to methods for identifying one or more biomarkers for assessing skeletal muscle function, skeletal muscle health,and/orphysical performance in a subject following physical exercise, said method comprising a) identifying proteins in a sample obtained from the subject b) correlating thepresence and/or amount of the identified proteinsto skeletal muscle function, skeletal muscle health,and/or physical performance, and c) identifying one or moreproteins, or an orthologue, a fragment, a degradation product, a splice variant or an allelic variant thereof, whosepresence and/or amountarecorrelated to skeletal muscle function, skeletal muscle health, and/or physical performanceas a biomarker for skeletal muscle function, skeletal muscle health,and/or physical performance. Also, the invention refers to methods for assessing change in function, health and physical performance, as well as specific biomarkers, antibodies and kits for use in the methods of the invention.</p> |
