<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new material for controlling carbohydrate metabolism, a food additive which can be added to foods and the like and can be safely and easily ingested by utilizing a natural plant material, and a food for preventing or treating carbohydrate metabolic disorders. <P>SOLUTION: The glycogen phosphorylase inhibitor contains a natural plant material, particularly Syzygium aromaticum as an active ingredient. Particularly, the glycogen phosphorylase inhibitor contains an extract of Syzygium aromaticum as an active ingredient but does not contain eugenol. The food additive and the food containing the food additive, particularly for preventing carbohydrate metabolic disorders including diabetes or for a patient, contain an extract of Syzygium aromaticum as an active ingredient but does not contain eugenol. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
