<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell capable of improving the output and its operation method. <P>SOLUTION: In the fuel cell, a structure is provided in which a positive electrode 2 and a negative electrode 1 are opposed to each other via a proton conductor 3, enzyme, coenzyme and an electronic mediator are fixed to the negative electrode 1. In this fuel cell, at least one or preferably both of these coenzyme and electronic mediator are added into a fuel solution.
