摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy-to-produce three-dimensional photonic crystal that has a satisfactory complete photonic bandgap over a wide wavelength range. <P>SOLUTION: The three-dimensional photonic crystal is composed of a three-dimensional periodic arrangement of structures of a first medium, and a second medium having a lower refractive index than the first medium. First and third layers in which the structures extend in a first direction and second and fourth layers in which the structures extend in a second direction are laminated. The structures of each layer have a flat surface as one end surface of lamination, a first structural part having a first width and a first height, a second structural part having a second width and a second height greater than the first width and the first height respectively, and a third structural part having a continuously or stepwise varying width and height.
