<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherin it is needed to perform a complicated operation for switching a mode when inputting a character string of different character types because, in general, a portable terminal can only input characters by a character type corresponding to a selected input mode (HIRAGANA character, KATAKANA character, alphabet, numeric figure). <P>SOLUTION: A character input device displays a list of conversion candidates by character type in response to key depression. The device outputs the next conversion candidates after fixing the conversion on the basis of conversion fixing history. The device acquires the character type of the selected conversion candidate, predicts a character type to be possibly selected next, and changes layouts of columns of candidates by character type on the basis of the prediction result. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
