The invention provides a compound of formula (I), or any of its enantiomers or mixtures thereof, or their pharmaceutically acceptable salts or solvates, for use as a medicament. The compound of formula (I) is active against Gram-positive and some Gram- negative human and veterinary pathogens with a weak monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitory activity. They are useful for the treatment of bacterial infections. The invention also discloses polymorphic forms of the compound (S)-N-{3-[4-(4-cyano-piperidin-1 -yl)-3-fluoro-phenyl]-2-oxo-oxazolidin-5- ylmethylj-acetamide.
