<p>The method involves determining safety distance of a retracing motor vehicle (1) e.g. truck, based on parameters e.g. driving manner of a driver of the retracing vehicle, vehicle configuration of the retracing vehicle, characteristic of a traveled road (2) and handling characteristic of the retracing vehicle. Vehicle longitudinal speed of the retracing vehicle is controlled based on the parameters. The vehicle longitudinal speed of the retracing vehicle is determined, and relative speed and/or the distance between the retracing vehicle and a vehicle (3) driving ahead, is determined by sensors. An independent claim is also included for a driver assistance system for determining safety distance and/or control of longitudinal speed of a motor vehicle.</p> |
