Performance event detection and recording apparatuses and methods in a data processing system are disclosed. The performance event recording apparatus in a data processing system comprises: a performance event record generation component for generating a performance event record according to the system clock for a performance event monitored in the data processing system; and a performance event record storage component for storing the performance event record generated by the performance event record generation component. The performance event recording apparatus of the present invention may, at the same time of recording the performance event, record the information of the system clock reflecting the occurrence time of the performance event, which is a very important information in performance analysis.
