<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information input apparatus and an information input method which enables so-called blind input without considering the direction of a touch panel and without viewing the display of keys or buttons on the touch panel in a pocket, for example. <P>SOLUTION: When the touch panel is slid in a vertical direction or horizontal direction while pressing a touch panel with a finger, the vertical direction and a reference position for arranging operation keys are determined from information on two points, i.e. a start point where the touch panel is touched with the finger and an end point where the finger stops its movement. The operation keys are disposed based on the determined direction and the reference position. When the touch panel is slid in the vertical direction while pressing the touch panel with the finger, the operation keys are disposed based on the sliding direction and orientation and the touch position. Thereby, the information input apparatus can be operated without considering the direction.
