PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a thin separator with superior mechanical strength, and to attain the miniaturization of an electric double layer capacitor device as a whole, and reduction in resistance and an increase in capacitance caused by reduction of a separator wall thickness, since any form variation cannot be generated and a conventional electrode support-type separator cannot attain the size reduction and the capacitance increase. SOLUTION: By using alumina and magnesia for materials of a separator 3 directly supported by an electrode 2, even if a thin separator 3 is formed on a front surface of the electrode 2, the separator 3 is extremely firmly fixed to the electrode 2. This caused that not only hydrogen bond is generated between the electrode 2 and the separator 3, but also particles such as alumina and magnesia can enter a clearance of active carbon 5a contained in a polarizing electrode 5, and thus allowing a knock effect to be exerted thereupon.
