PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolytic capacitor having a long life, which prevents the increase of an equivalent series resistance (ESR) with time under a high-temperature environment and has high-temperature resistant properties and high ripple current characteristics. SOLUTION: The electrolytic capacitor includes: a capacitor element 12 connected to a pair of lead wires 11; an exterior case 13 having a cylindrical bottom, which houses the capacitor element 12 that impregnates an electrolyte for driving; through-holes 14a for each passing the lead wire 11 therethrough; and a sealing body 14 composed of an elastic body, such as a rubber, for sealing the opening of the exterior case 13. The electrolyte for driving contains, on both terminals of carbon constituting a main chain: a carboxylic acid that has a carboxyl group and at least one or more substituents; and/or its salt.
