PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve writing reliability by efficiently converging a light flux and to achieve reduction in size and thickness. SOLUTION: A recording head includes: an opposing face facing a recording medium; a recording element having a main magnetic pole for generating a recording magnetic field, an auxiliary magnetic pole, and a magnetic coil; a core having a reflection face for reflecting the light flux introduced from one end side to the other end side in a direction different from the introduction direction, and a light flux converging unit which has been drawn in such a manner that the cross sectional area orthogonal to the direction from the one end side to the other end side is gradually reduced for generating spot light by causing the reflected light flux to converge while the light propagates toward the other end side; a spot light generation element which is fixed adjacent to the recording element with the other end side facing the magnetic recording medium side; and a light flux introduction means which introduces the light flux from the one end side into the core. A line connecting the one end side and the other end side of the spot light generation element is inclined with respect to the opposing face of a slider. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
