PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a check valve for inexpensively and easily securing close contact between the valve element and the valve seat of the check valve. SOLUTION: The check valve 2 comprises a valve box 4 having a fluid flow path 18, the valve seat 6 located in the flow path 18, the valve element 8 for abutting on the valve seat 6 to close the flow path 18, a shaft 10 for supporting the valve element 8 in a turnable manner, and a bush 12 fixed to the valve box 4 for supporting the shaft 10. The valve seat 6 has a seat surface. The seat surface is formed to be tapered face in a truncated cone shape. The valve element 8 has a seat surface. The seat surface is formed to be a tapered face in a truncated cone shape which has close contact with the seat surface of the valve seat 6. In the check valve 2, the valve element 8 is turned to establish close contact between the seat surface of the valve seat 6 and the seat surface of the valve element 8 to close the flow path 18, and the valve element 8 is turned to release the close contact between the seat surface of the valve seat 6 and the seat surface of the valve element 8 to open the flow path 18.
