PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a walking-type rice planter which laterally moves a seedling tray by the relative rotation and relative movement of a guide shaft to a transfer member, and which is advantageous in the aspect of the size and weight balance. SOLUTION: This walking-type rice planter has one travel wheel 1, a steering handle 3 disposed behind the travel wheel 1 in the vehicle body; a seedling tray 80 disposed behind the travel wheel 1 in the vehicle body, in a state capable of being moved in the lateral direction of the vehicle body; and a seedling-planting section 8 having two seedling-planting mechanisms 6 arranged in the lateral direction of the vehicle body is such that a lateral seedling-transfer mechanism 100 is arranged and disposed in front of the seedling tray 80, behind a perpendicular line A which passes through the axle axis X of the traveling wheel 1. The outside of the outer periphery of the traveling wheel 1, thereby the lateral seedling-transferring mechanism 100 is moved in a reciprocating manner in the lateral direction of the vehicle body, by driving a guide shaft 102 disposed in the lateral direction of the vehicle body and a transfer member 101 engaged with the guide shaft 102, in a relatively rotatable and relatively slidable state so as to be relatively rotated and imparted a lateral transfer force to the seedling tray 80, to interlock the seedling tray 80 with the seedling-planting movement of the seedling-planting mechanisms 6.
