<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure that an automatic transaction apparatus which performs a predetermined transaction using a passbook provided with two magnetic stripes can perform the transaction even if data in one of the magnetic stripes has been demagnetized on contact with a magnet or the like and that the data demagnetized is restored. <P>SOLUTION: When a passbook provided with two magnetic stripes for recording data on different items is used and when one of the items is not used, the same data as the item used is written as preliminary data in the magnetic stripe 43 of the item not used; when data in one magnetic stripe 42 cannot be read, the data is read from the other magnetic stripe 43. If the data read is the preliminary data about one of the items, a transaction is performed using the data and the data is written also in the one magnetic stripe 42. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
