<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass substrate which has a breaking strength which can reduce breakage originating from an end face or a part for an exhaust hole to be formed as low as possible in a heating process included in a production process of a flat panel display. <P>SOLUTION: With respect to a glass substrate for a flat panel display having a thickness of 1.3-4.0 mm and a polished end face section, a plurality of the glass substrate sheets produced by the same condition are each provided with a heater tightly attached at a position 26 mm apart from the end face section toward the center. Then, heat stress is generated to break the end face section, and the surface of a glass piece including the broken end face section is surface-analyzed. The data obtained by the surface analysis for the strength of each the plurality of glass substrate sheets against breakage are plotted with Weibull plotting. The breaking strength corresponding to 10% of breaking probability on the line approximating the Weibull plot is set to be 500 kgf/cm<SP>2</SP>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
