PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position information providing system for easily grasping the newest position relationship between a request source mobile communication terminal and a plurality of request destination mobile communication terminals, and to provide a method of providing position information. SOLUTION: By the position information providing system and the position information providing method, map image information is generated successively with a scale, where the request destination mobile communication terminals 10B, 10C, 10D and the request source mobile communication terminal 10A are displayed within the same screen at prescribed timing during position information reception, thus continuously displaying the request source mobile communication terminal 10A and the request destination mobile communication terminals 10B, 10C, 10D within the same screen, and hence easily grasping the position relationship between the request source mobile communication terminal 10A and the request destination mobile communication terminals 10B, 10C, 10D even if there are a plurality of request destination mobile communication terminals and an acquisition timing of the position information deviates.
