PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen cyanide detection material having a good preserving property. SOLUTION: Na picrate (sodium picrate) of 1g is dissolved in ethanol of 90 ml, polyalcohol (tetraethylene glycol) of 10 ml and sodium alkoxide of 1g are added thererto and are dissolved to it to manufacture a reactive reagent. A carrier paper, for example a filter paper made of cellulose, is impregnated with the reactive reagent, and is heated when needed to emit organic solvent. Thereby, the detection material which carries the Na picrate (sodium picrate) of 1.0 g, the polyalcohol (tetraethylene glycol) of 11g, and the sodium alkoxide of 1g per 1m<SP>2</SP>can be obtained.
