PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external light source apparatus which can irradiate an excitation light corresponding to each of various kinds of phosphor materials and can surely remove a heat ray from irradiating light. SOLUTION: Since an optical filter 18 for cutting rays on a side of infrared rays is arranged and fixed inside an external light source apparatus 11, a light of an infrared region as a heat ray can be surely removed. Since optical filter 18 has characteristics for cutting a whole of light on an outer side of infrared rays beyond a threshold of wavelengths longer than 805 nm and shorter than 815 nm, in a xenon lamp used generally as a light source, the heat ray on a side including around 825 nm which becomes substantially a first peak P of a radiation intensity can be surely removed. Moreover, since the threshold of the optical filter 18 is longer than 805 nm, indocyanine green which has an excitation light (wavelength 805 nm) on an extreme side of the infrared among various kinds of phosphor materials can be utilized.
