The method involves generating an image and producing a set of sub-areas in the image. A weighted brightness value and a weighted color value are generated for image points of each sub-area. The brightness values are compared to a reference brightness value of a color control model and the color values are compared to a reference color value of a color control model for determining a brightness deviation and a color deviation for each sub-area. The determined deviations are compared to a predetermined threshold value, and a lacquered surface and the sub-areas are graphically represented. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for quality control of a surface.
