The controller has a cable winch (12) with a brake and a clutch, and a cable (16) drumming off from the cable winch. The cable is drummed off with a presettable length corresponding to a previous ramming progress of previous ramming impacts and lifting height of a ramming weight (14) for execution of ramming impacts during the release of free fall of the ramming weight. The brake is opened and the clutch is activated during the release of free fall of the ramming weight. The lifting height is measured by a sensor positioned on a hydraulic cylinder (18).
