PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ideally control recording operation for copying a large-capacity data stream between different kinds of recording media in a hybrid camcorder, or the like. SOLUTION: When an interruption occurs for a write error to a copy destination of a moving image stream, an interruption mark is written to an index file at the copy source side of the moving image stream along with information on an interruption restart position. When recovery is successful at the copy destination, the copy of the moving image stream is completed quickly by the subsequent, continuous writing. Especially in the case of the camcorder as compared with a PC drive, 0Link writing of the same extent is normally allowed for appending data regardless of interruption, so that restart for appending data progresses without any problems.
