<p>Method and apparatus are provided for installing lapboard siding on vertical surfaces. The apparatus is a tool which clamps to the last-installed lapboard and utilizes the bottom edge of that last installed board as a reference for installing the next lapboard. The tool, which requires no nailing to secure it, is essentially a specialized C-clamp having a platen which slides between the last-installed and next-to-the-last-installed lapboards. The clamp has a stop bench that is perpendicular to the platen. With the stop bench firmly seated against the bottom edge of the last-installed board, a clamping knob is rotated, thereby clamping the last installed board between a clamping disc and the platen.
