A method for removing mercury in the flue gas using pulsed corona discharge is provided to effectively remove a trace amount of mercury included in the flue gas by producing an oxidizer for effectively oxidizing elemental mercury using a modified electrostatic precipitator. A method for removing mercury in the flue gas using pulsed corona discharge comprises the steps of: installing a modified electrostatic precipitator having a function of generating plasma for pulsed corona discharge; applying a voltage to the plasma reactor while passing flue gas containing elemental mercury through a plasma reactor(30) within the electrostatic precipitator, thereby reacting the flue gas in the plasma reactor to produce O, O3, Cl, Cl2 and HOCl which promote the oxidation of the elemental mercury to produce mercury of the oxidized form; and removing mercury oxide from the flue gas.
