An apparatus and a method for counting keeping media and media handling system using the same are provided to exactly count the kept media and supply and collect the media. An apparatus(10) for counting keeping media comprises a determining unit, scan unit, reflux unit and control unit. The determining unit(20) judges the normality of media. The scan unit(23) scans the information of media which is considered normal; The reflux unit(25) keeps the media. The control unit(28, 30) counts the page of the media using the scanned information of media.
