The catalyst (10), for cleaning a motor exhaust gas, has en electrode (16) in physical contact with a layer (12) of a catalytic active material to convert gas components. An electrical pump voltage is applied to the electrode. A solid electrolyte layer (14) is in physical contact with the electrode and/or a further electrode (18) as an open-pore anode, forming an electro-chemical cell with the electrodes.
