<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-scan type light emitting element array chip which is used in an optical writing head operable with a small number of external wiring, can light a plurality of emission points, and can interrupt writing of data in the halfway. <P>SOLUTION: At a shifting part 1, a cathode of an odd-numbered thyristor is connected to aψ1 wiring line 16, and a cathode of an even-numbered thyristor is connected to aψ2 wiring line 17. A gate of each thyristor is connected via a coupling diode 43 to a gate of the next thyristor on the right, and connected via a gate load resistance 42 to a power supply wiring line 15. Moreover, gates of first to fourth thyristors are connected to a gate of a thyristor 45 of a light emitting part 2 via a coupling diode 44. On the other hand, fifth and sixth shifting part thyristors have no corresponding light emitting part thyristors to be connected with.
