A device and a method for automatically setting an HDMI(High Definition Multimedia Interface) I/O(Input/Output) port are provided to automatically perform correction even if a user incorrectly connects a TV set, a DVD(Digital Versatile Disk) player, and a STB(Set-Top Box) to the HDMI port of an A/V(Audio/Video) receiver. A first HDMI switch(35) and a second HDMI switch(36) are commonly connected to a plurality of ports(31-34). An HDMI output chip(37) is connected to the first HDMI switch. An HDMI input chip(38) is connected to the second HDMI switch. A microcomputer(39) controls only the first HDMI switch in a state turning off the second HDMI switch. The microcomputer sequentially detects an EDID(Electronic Device ID) header value from each port and sets the predetermined port as the output port when the EDID header value is detected from the predetermined port. |
