<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-energy-density nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having high charge-discharge efficiency, and excellent in a capacity maintenance characteristic, a battery characteristic in a broad temperature range, and safety; and to provide an electrolyte used for it. <P>SOLUTION: This nonaqueous electrolyte is prepared by dissolving a lithium salt in a nonaqueous solvent. The nonaqueous solvent contains an aromatic compound expressed by formula I. R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>each independently represent an alkyl group that may have a substituted group, or R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>form a hydrocarbon ring that may have a substituted group by being bonded to each other. The ring A may have an electron-absorbing substituted group at a carbon atom located at a para-position of a carbon atom bonded to R<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP>CH-, and may have substituted groups at the carbon atoms located at other positions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
