FIBRE STRANDS FEEDING AND PREHEATING APPARATUS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF FIBRE REINFORCED PLASTIC MATERIALS AND CORRESPONDING METHOD

Continuous fiber rovings(2) being fed to an extruder are guided in a meandering fashion over primary heating bars(3) and secondary heating bars(4) between the latter. The rovings pass through an oscillating transverse grid(6) between each primary and secondary bar. Preferred Features: Intermediate heating bars(4) can be moved transverse to their long axis from a heating position into a roving threading position(II-II). Movement can be effected either manually or automatically and either as a single bar or groups of bars. The guide grid has guide slots running above the perpendicular roving catenary axis(III-III) in the direction of the threading position of the intermediate heating bars. Guide plates(8) and exchangeable spacer discs are also fitted to the grid. A fixed grid(5) is positioned before the first primary heating bar.
