The belt has a carrying structure e.g. spiral link structure, and a layer (20) of fiber material, where the layer of the fiber material together with a polymer material forms a permeable composite structure. The polymer material only partially fills and/or bridges hollow spaces (32) formed between fibers (26) of the layer. The polymer material forms a single piece and permeable polymer layer (30). The polymer layer extends over the length and breadth of the layer of the fiber material. Additional polymer material is arranged in the layer. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing the belt for making a sheet material.
