The system (10) has coating cells (26, 28), a labeling station (44) and a varnishing station (54) arranged in a row (56). Robot arms (30, 34, 42, 50) are arranged in a row (58). Drying stations (32, 38) are arranged in a row (60). The rows lie parallel to each other. The row (58) is arranged between the rows (56, 60). The robot arm (30) is arranged between a workpiece receiving region (14) and the coating cells. The arm (30) actively moves a workpiece into the cells for a coating process and subsequently deposits the workpieces in the drying station (32) after gripping of the workpiece.
