The device (1) has an upstream endless belt conveyor (4) for placing strings (3) on a downstream endless belt conveyor (5). One of the conveyors is operated in a displacement direction by closing-spacing apart of the downstream conveyor and an output end (17) of the upstream conveyor along a vertical axis (Z-Z'). The downstream conveyor performs forward driving and reverse driving. The upstream conveyor has an upper band (15) for driving and gripping each string. An independent claim is also included for a method for folding strings of sachets.
