The method involves inquiring of the free storage capacity of a storage device (18) of a spacecraft (10) by an onboard-planning device (22) in the spacecraft. A command is issued by the onboard-planning device for receiving data by a data receiving device (14), if the inquiry of the storage device by the onboard-planning device shows that sufficient free storage capacity is available for receiving data. An independent claim is included for a spacecraft, particularly for executing the method.
