<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the processing time needed to convert the compression format of compressed image data and recompress them. <P>SOLUTION: A DV stream, compressed into a DV format, is input to an information generator for DV→MPEG conversion and recompression 2 and stored in a recording medium 3. The information generator for DV→MPEG conversion and recompression, based on the input DV stream, generates recompression information, such as the average value of quantization scales, when recompressing in an MPEG format and information on bit assignment of each frame for encoding to I, P, and B pictures, respectively, and stores it in the recording medium. A DV→MPEG converter 4, by using the recompression information decodes the DV stream compressed in the DV format into uncompressed image data, recompresses the decoded uncompressed image data into an MPEG stream in the MPEG format, based on the recompressed information, read out of the recording medium and stores them in the recording medium. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
