The locking device has a lock (10) arranged at a vehicle part to be locked. A rotary latch (18) stays in contact with a locking element (12) using a closing rotary movement. The rotary latch and a detent pawl lever (22) are engaged in contact with each other. The lever is twisted against the locking device for releasing the rotary latch using displacement movement of the locking element from a locking position to another locking position by a releasing cam (24) that is supported at a plate (14) on a side of the lever.
