Provided is an apparatus for heating and alloying edges of hot dip plated strip. The heating apparatus includes burners, a laser sensor, a burner mobile unit, and a control unit. The burners lead both edge portions of the hot dip plated strip towards an alloy furnace; each burner is set to produce a direct flame using a water electrolysis gas for instantly heating the edge portions of the strip. The laser sensor detects the position of the strip edge portions. The burner mobile unit is set to move the burners from left to right along with the directions of the strip. The control unit is set to control the burner mobile unit according to the detection result of the laser sensor for allowing the burners to automatically follow the strip edge portions.
