An image processor and a program for processing an image using a change unit changing the configuration of image according to the direction of character are provided to prevent the agitation of relation of the area exited in a sentence after translation. An area extracting unit(101) extracts a character area within an image. A character recognition unit(102) recognizes clearly the character within the extracted character area. A translating unit(103) translates the recognition result by the character recognition unit. A changing unit changes the configuration of image about the extracted character area based on the direction of the character within the extracted character area.
